Simon Brandacher

I am a Computer Science student based in Innsbruck/Austria. I'm currently in the final year of my bachelors degree and will graduate in July 2022. (if everything goes according to plan ^-^)

Experience

Backend Internship

Sparkasse Bank Malta plc.

In my second year at the company I joined the backend team and I got to work alongside them on their core banking solution. During my time there I was assigned different tickets and worked on them with my colleagues. Most of my time was occupied with writing/testing Java code. Although I also worked with SQL (PostgreSQL in particular), Liquibase, JSPs and docker.

July 2021 - September 2021

Backend/Frontend Internship

Sparkasse Bank Malta plc.

Joining the company for the very first time was a vastly new experience for me, before that I had never done any programming in a professional environment. Therefore I quickly had to learn a lot of things. I learned how to effectively work myself through a large project and how to identify the places where my changes were most sensible. I also had one software engineer as a mentor assigned to me and quickly learned to appreciate the pair programming sessions whenever I got stuck on a problem.

July 2020 - September 2020

Education

University of Innsbruck

Computer Science (Bsc.)

Learned about software development, theoretical concepts and networking.

September 2019 - July 2022

Bischöfliches Gymnasium Paulinum

Matura (High School Diploma)

Graduation average: 1.1

September 2010 - June 2018

Skills & interests

Programming Languages & Tools

I am personally more interested in backend development and really enjoy working on APIs and business logic in general. On the other hand I recently started to learn more about Android and mobile development in general which has been a great experience so far.

For that I am most comfortable with working with languages like Java or Kotlin and have worked with Java EE and Spring Boot in the past. Apart from that I strongly believe in my abilities to quickly pick up new languages and frameworks.
